Do you believe in eating dessert first because life is short? Are you excited by the idea of sweetening snack time, learning more about Burmese cuisine and introducing people to the best dessert they’ve never had? If so, consider joining our fast-growing “Falooda Nation” as a falooda wallah at Union Market.

We are currently seeking a part-time falooda wallah with flexible weekday and weekend availability to work at our Union Market pop-up shop alongside a dynamic team of falooda enthusiasts.


Falooda, faluda, faloodeh: it’s the best dessert you’ve never had. Just as there are different ways to spell “falooda,” there are also many variations. In Burma, the Anglo-Indian phrase “toli moli” is used to describe “a little of this and a little of that.” Co-founded by a mother-daughter duo, Toli Moli is pioneering a unique, layered dessert in the style of falooda. A popular street snack throughout Southeast Asia and the Middle East, our falooda elevates this beloved treat with superfoods and natural ingredients made from scratch.

Toli Moli’s faloodas are a take on the Burmese variety and are inspired by every stamp in our passports. Among the countless flavor combinations, the most famous is the Royal Falooda, which was served only to royalty thousands of years ago.


You are committed to excellence, you love to engage strangers in great conversations, you’re willing to sell something awesome that most people have never heard of, and you are eager teach them about its history and value. You enjoy unique culinary experiences, working independently and in a team, and you can navigate a fast-paced, high-volume environment with grace and humor. Experience in food service is a plus, but not required. The five qualities we look for in falooda wallahs are: integrity, sense of humor, enthusiastic cooperation, compassion, and problem-solving abilities.

Wallah work

Our falooda wallahs work anywhere from 2-5 shifts per week, typically ranging from 4-6 hours each day. Opening shifts begin at 10:30am. Closers stay until approximately 9pm daily. We value a high standard of excellence that starts from your own personal desire to be a part of our mission to sweeten snack time. That means coming to work ready to serve and educate market visitors about this unique dessert drink, and a willingness to help the team achieve our collective goals. Often, falooda wallahs are at the shop alone, so you must be able to work independently and with gusto! On busier days, there may be two people in the store at a time. Our chef and owners drop in regularly to work alongside the team, prep ingredients, and make you smile with random gifts and stories. This is an extremely physical job that requires lifting, bending, cleaning, standing consecutively for long periods of time, a high level of focus, and a joyful approach. Some cooking or kitchen preparation may also be required.

We will ask you to become a true wallah by falling in love with our first food crush: falooda. You will have to clean and do dishes. You will also learn about Burmese food, culture and traditions, be a part of supporting the growth of a minority- and woman-owned business, and you will encounter some of DC’s top chefs, professionals and lovable families looking to enjoy a treat at one of the busiest markets in the city.
